Who will buy Nokia?

Is Nokia for sale is a question that you probably like to know. You can get some hints from the latest Google deal. Yesterday we heard a dramatic solution for the old good Motorola, it was like the day of the final countdown. Google told a very sad story for all the other Android partners. Sorry to say this, but it was like a nightmare. There is no Moto Motion left if everything goes like they have intended to do.

The big question is how long the Android mobile software will be so called open source? I´m almost sure that it´s just matter of the time when it will be shut off just like the Apple way. And that day will come, sooner or later. Hey Swedes, what the hell you are doing there, jump out, the big boys are playing there.

However, the Google deal shows the potential value of Nokia. Google will pay $12,5 billion from Motorola Mobility. The price sounds huge if you think what the company is going to get. Two things, the market share of Motorola, about 2-3%, and the patent portfolio that Google desperately needs, that´s it. Google has no time to sit at the court against WinNok and Apple.

If we compare the actual figures between Nokia Mobile division and Motorola Moblility, Nokia has a much bigger market share, about 24%, and the value of the patent portfolio exceeds fairly Moto´s. The market price for Nokia´s Mobile division is estimated roughly $7 billion today, so who likes to buy on these prizes. To be honest that market price sounds hilarious to me.

There are many possible candidates who are interested to make a deal with Nokia. Microsoft did it before, it´s billions, folks like Mr Elop has announced. Is Nokia still for sale? No doubt about that. Google has never been a popular company in Asia and especially in China. I have a strong feeling that the Asians and also the Europeans are not so convinced of the way how the cowboys are operating with the hot mobile industry.

This drama needs much more players. Two winners, Apple and WinNok, are not enough. This is not tennis. In the future we will see more options and more hostile or friendly buyouts.  What is Nokia´s position and the role of this game. The world´s biggest mobile manufacturer is a great buyout target on these prizes.  Watch out, the potential buyer can come from the other side of the world than expected.
