Keep it simple

If you play hockey, you know what I mean. But if you are a Finnish politician I think you have no idea what the hell I´m talking about. It’s the message, folks. It sounds easy to simplify your ideas or goals but are you really sure that the voters understand what´s your point.

This doesn´t mean that you should underestimate them, that´s the worst thing you can do. They are not stupid. The voters are ordinary people living with their families, working and trying to make their everyday life as normal as possible.  There is nothing wrong with that.

The True Finns leader, Timo Soini, is an example of the politician who has done it in the right way. He replied to one question. What´s your main point?  Spit it out, or it will get buried. Or at least tell them that there are no better options left. But absolutely be sure that the voters will pick up the point.

Soini is a populist and conservative. I´m sure that he has an idea what to do with his amazing election victory. But I´m afraid if the rest of his 38 fellow members of the parliament will agree. There are so much different opinions, emotional nationalism, anxiety of the future and ignorance of the economic issues. And finally it`s always the economy that matters.

The euro-zone area is the toughest problem. And the big question is if there are more bailouts to come. We have to remember that Finland is the only country that requires bailouts to be approved by parliament. Finland should stop this senseless waste of money because euro doesn´t work according to Soini. That is the basic message that everyone knows in Finland.

Simplify don’t mystify. This is not a rocket science like Soini has said many times. It also requires the courage to be different. Soini is a catholic who doesn´t even approve the abortion. Not a typical Finn, very far from it, but his message was bright and clear. Trust me, we can do it together. It was as simple as that.
